Lavender Haze Lemonade

Updated: Sep 3, 2023

I am a Swiftie. My era is Folklore. My favorite song is Cardigan.

Ok, so this post isn't exactly about crafting, but maybe it's crafting adjacent? Mixology is a craft, right? I think it is, or it could be, if you're talented and inspired. I am none of those things, at least not when it comes to drinks.

In case you've been living under a rock lately, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is a big thing, even if you're not a Swiftie. The tour has taken over cities and transformed lives. I was not able to get tickets to any of the shows. I have a lot of regrets about that. So of course when I found published recipes for signature cocktails for the tour, I was curious (article with the recipes here). Something about Lavender Haze Lemonade resonated with me in ways I can't quite explain. I HAD to try one.

I'll be honest, I didn't even have a shaker let alone a proper bar tool set. I had also never heard of Falernum! And rhubarb bitters?! I was skeptical, but determined to see this through. With the help of the internet and mini road trip to a large alcohol superstore, I was able to gather all of the things I needed for my mixology experiment.

The result (pictured) is a boozy, but surprisingly sippable and refreshing drink. I'm not convinced the Falernum is necessary, but I've been assured it adds to the depth and complexity of the drink. I may have found my new go-to cocktail.

Note: The instructions tell you to "pour into a rocks glass, fill the glass with ice, then top it off with tonic." The recipe calls for 8oz. of liqueur, which doesn't leave much room for ice and tonic! I have 10oz rocks glasses, so I opted to use my slightly larger (13 oz.) highball glass instead! If you have double rocks, or double old fashioned glasses, use those.
